Cosmetic rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to enhance the appearance of the nose. The goal is to create a nose that is harmonious with your facial features while maintaining or improving nasal function. Whether you are seeking subtle refinement or more dramatic changes, rhinoplasty can address a variety of concerns.
Refining the nasal tip (bulbous, droopy, or upturned tip)
Smoothing a nasal hump or bump on the bridge
Narrowing or reshaping the nostrils
Correcting asymmetry or deviation
Improving overall facial balance
Your journey begins with a personalized consultation. Dr Shi will listen to your goals, perform a thorough examination, and discuss the best approach for your unique anatomy. Digital imaging may be used to help visualize potential results. The procedure will be performed under general anesthesia at a surgical facility. Most cosmetic rhinoplasties use either a closed (incisions inside the nostrils) or open (a small incision across the columella) approach.
After the surgery, you will have internal splints and an external cast to support healing for the first week. Most patients are able to return to work after 7-10 days. The swelling and bruising is most substantial in the first few weeks but can take up to a full year to fully resolve.
Dr. Shi is a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon with expertise in both cosmetic and reconstructive rhinoplasty. She combines advanced surgical techniques with an artistic eye to achieve natural, balanced results tailored to each patient. Contact our office to begin your rhinoplasty journey today.

Functional rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure focused on improving nasal breathing and airflow by correcting structural problems. Sometimes, this may entail minor changes to the appearance of the nose. Nasal obstruction can be caused by a variety of structural abnormalities.
Nasal valve stenosis, caused by narrow or poorly supported lateral nasal walls
Deviated septum, or asymmetry and crookedness of the cartilage that separates the nasal passageways in half, which can cause blockage in the airway
Turbinate hypertrophy, or enlargement of structures within the nose that help humidify and filter air, often a result of air quality or allergies

Reduction of a nasal fracture, or a break of the nasal bones, is a surgical procedure designed to improve nasal symmetry following injury to the nose. This procedure relies on prompt assessment in order to restore nasal structure and function.
After initial stabilization at an emergency care facility, a consultation is necessary to determine the best treatment plan. This consultation is ideally conducted 7 to 14 days after the injury to allow swelling to subside but before the nasal bones have begun to set. At this consultation, Dr. Shi will decide next steps which may include observation when there is minimal nasal deformity, or a nasal bone reduction. Timing is crucial as consultations after the 14-day mark will be too late for a reduction to be possible.
Nasal bone reductions are typically performed under local anesthesia in the office. You may have internal splints and an external cast to support healing for the first week. Most patients are able to return to work after 3-5 days.
Dr. Shi is a fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon with expertise in both cosmetic and reconstructive rhinoplasty. If you or someone you know has suffered a nasal injury, do not hesitate to contact our office right away.
